Costa Rica Poison Frogs is the first NFT collection of The Steam Lab. The goal was to create a set of collectable crypto souvenirs. Every person that visits Costa Rica knows what “Pura Vida”, “Tuanis”, and “Mae” means. They learn the importance that “ticos” give to nature and environmental sustainability.
Poison Dart Frogs (Oophaga Pumilio, previously designated as Dendrobates Pumilio) is a highly polymorphic species that has a great variety of colorations.
By releasing this NFT Collection, we wanted to make people aware of the beauty of this species and also about the beauty of Costa Rica in general. Moreover we wanted Costa Rica visitors to have the opportunity to own a Crypto Souvenir of this amazing country.
Creation of the art pieces corresponding to each treat
The Steam Lab is a group of scientists, technologists, engineers, artists, and mathematicians that has a common goal of bringing the crypto world closer to the community. They built an “architectural runway” so anyone in the nearby community in Costa Rica can create, digitalize, and sell their digital art pieces as NFTs. They continuously provide on-site and on-line training, KT and BKM sessions.

NFT stands for “non-fungible token”, which are unique digital items that are stored and encrypted on the blockchain that people can buy, own, and trade. NFTs can simply be digital art but can have various benefits. They can be treated like membership cards where holders get exclusive access to things like websites, events, merchandise, and more.
There will be a total of 1001 collectable items under this collection. Only 1 of these art pieces will be a collage composed of 1024 single art pieces. None of these 1024 “collaged ones” will be released as a single item.
